Our company actively participates as a partner in the development of the Windshield installation projects on container ships.
Windshields are gaining popularity nowadays as this design helps reduce wind resistance, thereby decreasing fuel consumption by ship engines and CO2 emissions (by approximately 2%).
The Windshield structure is a cantilevered element with a height of up to 19 meters. The design process is complicated by a number of constraints due to the mooring equipment installed on the deck. Our engineers face complex design challenges to avoid the need for reconfiguring the mooring equipment.
The execution of such a project requires a high level of expertise and specialized software for performing 3D strength calculations.
The work is carried out in accordance with the requirements of International Classification Societies, members of IACS, such as LLOYD REGISTER and Det Norske Veritas (DNV), with subsequent project approval.
